With their eighth studio album, Shapeshifter, set to drop on March 28th via Rise Records, Memphis May Fire have delivered yet another preview of what’s to come. Their latest single, “The Other Side,” hit streaming platforms today, adding to the anticipation for the album’s release.
Vocalist Matty Mullins shared the meaning behind the track:
“‘The Other Side‘ is about resilience in the face of despair. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt trapped in their own pain, unsure if they’ll ever break through. But there’s always something beyond the darkness, another side to the pain, a breakthrough waiting to happen. This song is a reminder that even in our lowest moments, we’re not alone, and the light is closer than we think.”
This marks the eighth track from Shapeshifter to debut ahead of its release, leaving only two songs yet to be unveiled.

👌🏽
They gotta stop releasing the entire album as singles before the album drops
Nick Knecht streaming incentivizes that. It’s purely a business move.
Jarrod Wade I know it’s a business move but doesn’t it damage the imitation album drop anticipation
Nick Knecht I completely agree. To be fair their music has been very cookie cutter low effort music for a while so it makes sense they just go for the quick cash rather than put the effort they used to into their music.
Jarrod Wade they should put effort in
Nick Knecht should but they don’t
Jarrod Wade true
Nick Knecht “chaotic” came on after an album on Spotify and I didn’t know it, I legit thought it was fall out boy
Nick Knecht they gotta follow killswitch engage. Killswitch only gave 2 songs before their album dropped yesterday
Jeremy Devon Martinez yes agreed! I loved the killswitch album yesterday lol I’m waiting for whitechapel and SpiritBox both on the same day! Then ADTR later in the month the new album gets delivered to me today I’m excited for it
Nick Knecht it’s a business tactic they will get way more streams dropping then all as singles basically
Nick Knecht “they”? This has been the way it works for the past decade.
Nick Knecht yeah I thought we were done with a few songs left. Now it’s basically out with a month to go with 2 songs left.
Nick Knecht hahah true that . Vocal only. Unmixed. Or with onion rings versions along with the single.
Nick Knecht They’ll leave revealing a couple of songs until the release date. That’s what they did with ‘Remade in Misery’.
Nick Knechtwhat’s left just one or two tracks might as well release the album
Nick Knecht that’s the new way of the game
Oh i thought the album was already released 🤣🤣
Whole album is pretty much out a month ahead of its release. Kills the anticipation and excitement for actual release day. By the time this actually drops, it will already be old news.
Lol they all went and got the same haircut. Funny because they took the same approach with all the other music in their genre, as did literally all other bands which happen to be clones.
