British metalcore standouts Employed To Serve have unveiled a brand-new standalone single titled “Dead Reckoning,” marking the band’s first new material since the release of their fourth studio album, ‘Fallen Star’.
According to press materials, the track serves as “an ode to those finding their own way and using their gut instinct as their only source of guidance.”
Guitarist and vocalist Sammy Urwin explained that the song came together unusually fast during the writing process:
“When the track was being written, it was one of those situations where it exploded into existence, rather than having been carefully crafted.”
Vocalist Justine Jones added that the song taps into a heavier emotional space for the band:
“‘Dead Reckoning’ definitely taps more into our darker side and serves as a conduit to blow off steam. We hope the listeners get the same release from the track that we do.”
While ‘Fallen Star’ was released through Spinefarm Records, the new single arrives via Church Road Records, the independent label founded by Urwin and Jones.
Accompanying the release is a new music video directed by Murry Deaves, who previously collaborated with the band and has also worked with acts including OBEYER and Love Is Noise.
“Dead Reckoning” signals the beginning of a new chapter for Employed To Serve as they move beyond the album cycle for ‘Fallen Star’ and into their next creative phase.
