My Chemical Romance delivered a major surprise during their San Antonio, TX show on September 12, bringing Danish metal legend King Diamond onstage for a special performance of “Mama.”
The appearance came as My Chemical Romance continue their extended celebration of ‘The Black Parade’, with Diamond joining the band during the track from the landmark 2006 album. The metal icon also took part in a fitting bit of theatrics, officially “knighting” the band during his appearance.
The night also potentially offered a glimpse at what could be next for My Chemical Romance.
During the show, vocalist Gerard Way appeared to hint that the band may be working toward a new studio album. If that comes to fruition, it would mark their first new full-length effort since 2010’s ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’.
Fan-filmed footage capturing Way discussing the possibility of new music has surfaced online, alongside footage of King Diamond joining the band onstage.
With their ‘The Black Parade’ era having dominated much of their touring activity over the past couple of years, My Chemical Romance still have a number of performances scheduled through November.
