Canadian hard rock veterans Nickelback have picked up a substantial batch of new certifications from the RIAA, including their first-ever diamond-certified single in the United States.
The band’s 2005 hit “Rockstar” has now reached diamond status, making it the first Nickelback single to achieve the milestone in the U.S. The track, which appeared on the group’s fifth studio album, “All The Right Reasons,” has also been upgraded to 12x platinum.
Meanwhile, “How You Remind Me,” the lead single from Nickelback’s 2001 album “Silver Side Up,” has reached 9x platinum, putting it within striking distance of diamond certification as well.

The new certifications arrive as Nickelback’s catalog continues to rack up significant sales and streaming numbers. However, the band previously revealed that they may not be the primary beneficiaries of that continued success.
As reported earlier this year, Nickelback sold approximately 80% of their catalog rights to an undisclosed party several years ago.
In the United States, RIAA platinum certification represents one million equivalent units, while gold represents 500,000. Modern certifications account for physical and digital sales as well as qualifying streams and downloads.
