Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor Says Band May Tour Again, Confirms New Music Plans

Fans concerned about the future of Nine Inch Nails may not need to worry just yet. Frontman Trent Reznor has clarified recent comments that sparked speculation the industrial metal pioneers could be stepping away from touring for good — while also confirming that new music is on the horizon.

The uncertainty began during the band’s February 27, 2026 performance at Tulsa, OK’s BOK Center, where Reznor reflected on the group’s history in the city and suggested the current run might mark the end of touring activity. His remarks quickly spread online, leading many to believe Nine Inch Nails were preparing to retire from the road entirely.

However, while closing out the ‘Peel It Back World Tour’ on March 16 at Sacramento, CA’s Golden 1 Center, Reznor addressed the situation directly and clarified that the band is not officially ending live performances — though another tour is not immediately planned.

Before introducing the band during the final show, Reznor explained the misunderstanding to the audience:

“What I said was, this is the last show of this tour, and we don’t have any shows booked, and we don’t have any plans to book any shows any time in the future so far. That doesn’t mean we may not tour again. We may tour again. It won’t be next month, it won’t be this year.”

Reznor emphasized that the band never intended to announce a retirement from touring, noting that uncertainty about returning to the stage had existed even before launching the recent run. According to him, the decision to tour again previously came only after the band felt creatively motivated and confident they could still deliver something meaningful live.

The frontman also revealed what comes next for Nine Inch Nails, confirming that the group will now shift its focus toward writing and recording new material together.

“What we’re going to do is work on some new music, and make some new shit. And if we feel inspired, and if we feel we can beat this [tour], we’ll see you again.”

While future touring remains undecided, Reznor’s comments make clear that Nine Inch Nails are far from finished — with new music potentially setting the stage for whatever comes next.
