The official ‘Ozzfest’ social media accounts have dropped a hint that the iconic summer metal and rock festival could return in 2027. While no formal announcement has been made, founder Sharon Osbourne recently spoke to Billboard about discussions with Live Nation regarding the festival’s potential resurrection.
Sharon Osbourne said:
“I’ve been talking to Live Nation about bringing [Ozzfest] back recently. It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country. It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”
Sources suggest that the festival would likely return in a touring format, similar to its early incarnations, rather than the destination festival style it adopted before its 2018 conclusion. Early Ozzfest editions played a major role in launching the careers of Slipknot, System Of A Down, and numerous other now-prominent acts.
Sharon also indicated that a revival would continue that tradition of spotlighting new artists and might expand the festival’s musical palette. She noted, “I’d like to mix up the genres” for the potential comeback.
Should Ozzfest return, it could also serve as a tribute to its late patriarch Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July 2025.

It is most definitely going to return the way they’re advertising it. There’s no way that they’re not going to. Just one thing that bothers me is that they might choose someone like Post Malone to sing for Sabbath, that would piss me off to the point where I wouldn’t even bother to go.
