Sharon Osbourne Confirms Ozzfest Will Return In 2027: “We’re Gonna Do It”

The long-dormant Ozzfest is officially set to return. Sharon Osbourne has confirmed that the legendary heavy metal festival will make its comeback in 2027, marking its first revival since 2018.

Rumblings of the festival’s return first surfaced earlier this year when Osbourne revealed she had been in discussions with promoter Live Nation about bringing the iconic event back. Now, speaking during an appearance at MIDEM in Cannes, France, she confirmed those plans are moving forward.

“Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we’re gonna do it.”

Osbourne went on to reflect on why the festival disappeared in the first place, explaining that its hiatus was never meant to be permanent.

“…The last one we did was 2018. It was just a month before Ozzy got sick, and that was at the Forum in L.A. And there was no plans to stop it. We were still gonna do it, but Ozzy couldn’t. And Ozzy and I would talk about it, and he’d say, ‘Do you think Ozzfest would work without me?’ And I’m, like, ‘Yeah, it’s a brand. It will work without you.’ And he said, ‘We should do it.’”

Originally launched in 1996 by Sharon Osbourne and the late Ozzy Osbourne, Ozzfest quickly became one of heavy music’s most influential touring festivals. The event was famously conceived after Ozzy was turned away from Lollapalooza, ultimately evolving into a cornerstone platform that helped introduce bands like System Of A Down, Slipknot, and numerous others to mainstream audiences.

According to earlier reporting from Billboard, the 2027 revival is expected to return to Ozzfest’s traditional traveling festival format, rather than the single-destination model used for its most recent edition in 2018.

Additional lineup details and tour dates for the revived festival have yet to be announced.
