“Phenomenal Actor” Set To Portray Ozzy Osbourne In Upcoming Biopic, Jack Osbourne Reveals

The long-anticipated biopic chronicling the life of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne continues to move forward in development. During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Influenced With Billy Morrison, Ozzy’s son Jack Osbourne shared that the film has secured both a director and a lead actor—though the latter remains under wraps for now.

Jack confirmed the film is in active development with Sony Studios, a process that has spanned six years. He described the chosen performer as a “phenomenal, phenomenal actor,” while noting that a script rewrite is currently underway.

Billy Morrison: “So that’s the biopic. That’s an acted—”
Jack Osbourne: “Yes. That’s an acted movie that Sony Studios, we’ve been developing with Sony Studios for like six years already.”
Billy Morrison: “What did your dad think when he was alive about that? I mean, I know he said he wanted Denzel Washington to play him.”
Jack Osbourne: “Sadly, it’s not Denzel. No, no. Listen, we have our decided pick and we’re still kind of, you know, I can’t say anything, but it’s a phenomenal, phenomenal actor. We have a director attached and we’re doing a rewrite right now.”
Billy Morrison: “That’s really exciting. I mean, that’s up there with the Freddie Mercury one, the Bob Dylan one, but I think doing an Ozzy one is wonderful. I think he’d get a kick out of it.”
Jack Osbourne: “Oh, he would. And all he kept saying, I’d give him updates. Like, ‘Oh, you know, we met with this guy and this is happening,’ and he’d go, ‘I don’t give a shit. Just tell me when it’s out so I can go see it.’”

Ozzy Osbourne sadly passed away on July 22nd, 2025, at the age of 76, following a heart attack and a prolonged battle with illness. This upcoming biopic marks one of the first major cinematic projects to honor the life and legacy of the “Prince of Darkness.”
