OZZY OSBOURNE Had Planned a Lemmy Cover & a Duet With Disturbed’s David Draiman Before His Death

A new episode of ‘The Osbournes Podcast’ returned on November 12th for the first time since the July 22nd, 2025 passing of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne. The emotional installment featured Sharon, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne reflecting on the life, final months, and legacy of the beloved Prince Of Darkness, while also addressing lingering questions surrounding his death and the worldwide outpouring of support that followed.

During the discussion, the family shared previously unheard details — including a voicemail of condolences left by U.S. President Donald Trump (timestamp 1:02:48), as well as the revelation that Ozzy had been hospitalized just two weeks before his July 05th Back To The Beginning tribute concert (14:08). They also called out Roger Waters for his disparaging comments about Ozzy’s passing (43:07) and clarified several pieces of misreported information.

One major clarification involved the Back To The Beginning benefit show, which took place July 09th at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK — the historic home turf of Black Sabbath. The tribute featured massive names such as Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and many others. Earlier this year, Tom Morello stated that the event raised over $190 million for charity. Sharon Osbourne once again refuted that inflated figure, explaining:

“If one show could have raised — I mean it was up to like $190 million — it’s like any artist, just do one big show, film it and you can retire. Now. It was nowhere near and I wish that it was, but we’re living in reality in the real world.”

When pressed on the real number, she added:

“It raised 11 [million,] but with the cost, ’cause we paid the cost of bringing everybody in, everybody out, accommodations, everything. No one got paid. Nobody asked for a penny. They gave their time, their efforts, everything for free.”

Later in the episode, Sharon also revealed two final musical commitments Ozzy had intended to complete before his health declined. One was a track for an upcoming tribute to his late friend Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister of Motörhead. The other was a duet with Disturbed vocalist David Draiman. Neither song was finished before his passing.

As Sharon explained:

“There was two [obligations] that he didn’t finish. Lemmy, um, there’s an album coming out of people covering Lemmy songs, and he had chosen his song and he really, really wanted to do it. He really, really wanted to do it and we were trying to fit it in, and he really wanted to be on that album for Lemmy. And the other one was David Draiman and him were doing a duet and… never happened.”
