Turmoil has erupted within the SeeYouSpaceCowboy camp following the announcement of their participation in an upcoming tour headlined by Dance Gavin Dance. The backlash stems from criticism of Dance Gavin Dance‘s history, specifically allegations of sexual misconduct involving their former vocalist, Tilian Pearson. Although Pearson returned to the band in 2022 after several months in rehab for substance abuse issues, some fans remain critical of the band’s handling of the situation.
The decision by SeeYouSpaceCowboy to join the tour has led to accusations of hypocrisy, particularly because the band removed Roman Candle from a 2024 tour after allegations of domestic abuse and sexual assault surfaced against a now-former member of that group. Critics have pointed to what they perceive as a double standard in how the band addresses such matters.
Frontwoman Connie Sgarbossa has expressed frustration and uncertainty about her future with the band amid the controversy. On January 14th, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her perspective:
“Believe me, there is no part of me as an individual that backs this either.”
In a follow-up post, she added:
“Probably gonna be leaving SYSC due to a lack of urgency on issues I have been bringing up for a while now. It was fun while it lasted.”
As of January 15th, the band has scrubbed all mentions of their involvement in the tour with Dance Gavin Dance, The Home Team, and Dwellings from their social media platforms. It remains unclear whether this signals a withdrawal from the tour entirely or a reconsideration of their participation. Fans and critics alike are waiting for an official statement from the band to clarify their position.

They signed on at last a month and a half in advance and it wasn’t an issue till it hit the public. She did it for moral grand standing or to cause a scene and when her band didn’t back her because it wasn’t it first time shes done it, she caved and left. SYSC is most likely gonna be better off without her.

It also had to do with Dance Gavin Dance touring with Falling in Reverse their past tour, and offensive things Ronnie has said about transgender people. Connie is also transgender, and it seems to be part of the influence why she left the band seeing as that did not meet her personal values. She didn’t want to associate people who associated with him, and her band wasn’t being supportive of that, so I have heard. And I am sure the band has gotten a lot of backlash since she left from their fans. And for the record, I don’t agree with what Tillian did, and agree that he had to leave…but I am a huge Dance Gavin Dance fan as far as their music goes. I haven’t even heard of SYSC until all of this haha.
Sorry to say it, but Ronnie Radke was right, this scene can take things to such extremes that they lose a sense of balance. Perhaps it’s better for them to break-up now rather than have a situation next year where they’re protesting a festival because a sponsor, like a bank that works with Israeli companies, is funding the event, supporting the artists, and giving them a platform to perform.
