Sharon Osbourne Reflects On Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Hours And His Heartbreaking Last Words

Sharon Osbourne has shared deeply emotional insight into the final moments she spent with her late husband, heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, opening up about his last words and the sense that he knew the end was near.

Ozzy passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76, just weeks after delivering his farewell live appearance at the all-star ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK. His death followed years of declining health caused by accumulated injuries, Parkinson’s Disease, pneumonia, sepsis, and other serious medical complications.

Appearing on a recent episode of ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’, Sharon — who married Ozzy in 1982 and managed both his solo career and Black Sabbath — reflected on the final week of his life and the moments that continue to stay with her.

Discussing the days leading up to his passing, Sharon revealed that Ozzy had begun experiencing recurring dreams involving people he did not recognize:

“He had told me that he was having dreams in the last week of his life. He was seeing people that he never knew. I said, ‘Well, what kind of people?’ He goes, ‘All different people. And I just keep walking and walking, and I’m seeing all these different people every night, and I go back there and I’m looking at these people, and they’re looking at me, and nobody’s talking.’ And he knew. He was ready.”

Sharon then recalled the final night they spent together, a moment that would take on heartbreaking significance:

“[Ozzy] was up and down to the bathroom all night, and it was like 4:30 and he said, ‘Wake up.’ I said, ‘I’m already bloody awake, you’ve woken me up.’ And he said, ‘Kiss me.’ And then he said, ‘Hug me tight.’

I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have? If only I’d have told him I loved him more. If only I’d have held him tighter.”

According to Sharon, Ozzy went downstairs shortly afterward, worked out for roughly 20 minutes, and then collapsed. She was later jolted awake by shouting in the house and rushed downstairs as paramedics attempted to revive him:

“I ran downstairs, and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m like, ‘Don’t. Just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone.’”

She added that despite extensive efforts to save him, she immediately knew he had passed:

“I knew instantly he’d gone. And they tried and tried, and then they took him by helicopter to the hospital and they tried, and it’s like, ‘He’s gone. Just leave him.’”

Sharon also addressed Ozzy’s physical condition leading into his farewell performance at ‘Back To The Beginning’. She revealed that his doctors had warned him in advance that taking the stage could potentially cost him his life:

“The main doctor said to him, ‘If you do this show, that’s it. You’re not going to get through it.’ But we just sat there, and he said, ‘I’m doing it. I want to do it, and I’m doing it.’”

She explained that Ozzy was acutely aware his body was failing him:

“He knew his body was failing him. He was in so much pain, so much pain. He had pneumonia three times this year. He’d had sepsis. That’s what really destroyed him.”

Despite his condition, Ozzy pushed forward, performing seated on a throne and delivering abbreviated solo and Black Sabbath sets. The concert raised an estimated $11 million for Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

According to Sharon, the experience gave Ozzy peace in his final weeks:

“He just wanted it so bad to say thank you to everyone. And I think he honestly did know that… that was his time.”

She also shared how the positive reception profoundly affected him after the show:

“He was so happy afterwards. He kept looking at the papers, and he goes to me, ‘I never knew so many people liked me.’

For two weeks, every day was sunshine for him — happier than we’d seen him in seven years.”

Ozzy Osbourne was ultimately laid to rest in a private ceremony on the family’s estate in Buckinghamshire, UK, surrounded by close family and friends — closing the final chapter on one of the most influential and beloved careers in the history of heavy music.
