Pat Sheridan of Fit For An Autopsy has partnered with independent brand NEVEN Eyewear to launch a new initiative called ‘Sight For Sound’, aimed at helping touring musicians and crew members get access to free eyewear—whether prescription glasses or sunglasses.
Officially announced on April 15th, the program offers U.S.-based touring professionals who work 75+ shows per year a chance to receive a free pair of glasses from NEVEN’s lineup of 66 unique frame styles and 6 different lens color options. For those who qualify, there’s no catch, no red tape, and no shipping costs—just real support for those grinding it out on the road.
Those working in the industry outside of the U.S. can still apply for non-prescription glasses or sunglasses, though prescription eyewear is currently only available to U.S.-based applicants.
“A lot of people think musicians or people in the industry are living the dream, but what they don’t see is the reality behind the scenes — no health care, no safety net. And when a tour ends, the realities of life kick in fast,” said Jonathan Strauss, NEVEN’s founder. “We started Sight for Sound because we wanted to change that, even in a small way. This is the least we can do — to support a community that often gets overlooked once the lights go down.”
Sheridan, who also serves as NEVEN’s Director of Partnerships, added:
“Our Sight for Sound program is life-changing for musicians and crew members. I’ve been in the Extreme Music Scene since the 90s, and vision has never been addressed before. Musicians aren’t offered a 401K plan, health insurance or vision benefits. It’s an honor to save music industry professionals thousands of dollars a year.”
Eyewear prescriptions will be fulfilled in partnership with Robertson Optical Laboratories, the largest independent optical wholesaler in the U.S. Each pair is backed by NEVEN’s ‘Everlast Guarantee’, meaning they’ll be replaced if lost, broken, or stolen—no questions asked.
Founded by Strauss and his wife in their home—literally packing orders in what would become their daughter’s nursery—NEVEN Eyewear has grown into a $30 million-a-year brand, trusted by artists such as Zach Johnson (The Ghost Inside), Tanner Wayne (In Flames), Gary Holt (Exodus/Slayer), Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste), and Phil Sgrosso (Saosin).
Every frame features NEVEN’s signature three tildes (~~~), symbolizing air, land, and sea—a nod to life on the road.
