masked metal titans Slipknot are reportedly on the verge of a massive payday. According to Billboard, the Iowa icons are in talks to sell their share of the band’s publishing and recorded master royalties — a deal that could be worth up to $120 million.
Unnamed sources point to HarbourView Equity Partners as the potential buyer. The most significant portion of the sale would come from the band’s publishing rights, while their master recordings remain under Warner Music Group, which acquired them through its purchase of Roadrunner Records back in 2007.
Industry data from Luminate suggests Slipknot’s combined royalty pool generates roughly $8.9 million annually. However, the report notes that not every member is ready to sell their full stake — at least, not right now.
Slipknot parted ways with Roadrunner Records in 2022 after fulfilling their long-term contract, becoming free agents for the first time in decades. While the band still retains control over their publishing, the master recordings remain in Warner’s hands.
If this deal closes, it would mark one of the biggest catalog royalty sales in metal history — further proving that Slipknot’s legacy isn’t just loud, it’s lucrative.
