After weeks of speculation surrounding Sid Wilson’s status in Slipknot, the band briefly appeared to confirm that the turntablist is no longer a member.
A statement posted to Slipknot’s social media accounts this afternoon, August 14th, was subsequently deleted. The message simply read:
“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson.
We wish him the best in his future endeavors.
Slipknot”
The now-deleted statement would seemingly confirm TMZ’s July 31st report that Wilson had been fired from the band. A follow-up report from the outlet claimed that the decision stemmed from Wilson’s alleged treatment of his bandmates.
Neither Slipknot nor Wilson had publicly addressed those reports prior to today’s briefly published statement.
The situation also drew attention earlier this month after Kelly Osbourne, Wilson’s former fiancée, shared a series of social media posts that appeared to reference their personal situation and seemingly took aim at the longtime Slipknot member.
For now, the circumstances surrounding Wilson’s departure remain unclear, particularly given that Slipknot deleted its own confirmation shortly after posting it.
Wilson joined Slipknot in the late 1990s and became one of the nine members of the group’s classic-era lineup. He had remained with the band for more than two decades.
