Southpaw FLHC have premiered the official music video for their new single “Nail In The Coffin,” offering fans another preview of the hardcore band’s upcoming album, The Standard.
Set for release on July 31, The Standard will feature the newly unveiled track, which explores themes of personal growth, self-reflection, overcoming adversity, and leaving behind the struggles of the past.
Vocalist Daryn LaMontagne opened up about the meaning behind “Nail In The Coffin,” describing the song as a conversation between who you were and who you are becoming.
“‘Nail In The Coffin’ is ultimately a conversation with your current and past self. We are not defined by what we are born into nor do we have to be a victim of the people, situations, or places at play. While your past self may have dealt with a lot of frustrations within, hard times, situations that are ‘not by choice,’ loss, and/or generational curses, your future self will be thankful for those times, people and places. Because that is what will make you stand taller, stronger, more wise and stoic in the end.”
LaMontagne continued by explaining that the track focuses on the choices made every day and the person those decisions ultimately create.
“When you seek a better way of life, it’s not about getting to the destination as quickly as possible. Instead, it’s about the daily decisions you make and the person you become because of those decisions. The character you build and the person you become along the way is key.”
The vocalist added that the song represents a final farewell to old habits, past struggles, and anything holding someone back from reaching their full potential.
“Driving that final nail in the coffin and burying a weaker version of yourself will ensure that you never become a product of what you were thrown into, never become the same as the average man, and that you will reach your full potential. This is an experience of ENLIGHTENMENT.”
With The Standard arriving later this month, Southpaw FLHC are preparing to introduce their latest chapter with a message centered around transformation, resilience, and personal evolution.
