Floridian hardcore outfit Southpaw FLHC have officially joined Spinefarm Records and unveiled a new music video for their track “Torches”. Vocalist Daryn LaMontagne shared on the song’s meaning:
“To be the example, you must live the example and hold the line. ‘Torches’ reminds us: legacies aren’t inherited; they are forged.”
A press release from the label elaborates further:
“Torches leans into the mindset that you need to run the game in your field. Whether that field is music, business, the streets, or life itself, the torchbearer sets the tone, dictates the standard, and protects the legacy. It’s a salute to those who came before, and a call to honor the lineage. The torch is more than a symbol. It is a responsibility and a lifestyle that comes with sacrifice. To carry it means you’ve earned your place through discipline and unwavering commitment. It’s not given freely, nor should it be.”
While the signing and video mark a milestone for the band, they also faced a major setback this past Sunday, August 24th. Bassist Marc Laroche was involved in a serious car accident, sustaining a broken sternum and internal bleeding. A crowdfunding campaign has since been launched to support his recovery.
