Static-X Earn Their First-Ever Gold Single In The United States

Industrial nü-metal pioneers Static-X have officially secured their first gold-certified single in the United States.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, “Push It” — the breakout lead single from the band’s 1999 debut album ‘Wisconsin Death Trip’ — has now reached the threshold for gold certification.

The milestone marks the first time an individual song from Static-X has achieved gold status in the U.S.

Their landmark debut album ‘Wisconsin Death Trip’ previously earned gold certification in January 2000, later going platinum in June 2001, making it the group’s most commercially successful release.

Static-X’s most recent previous U.S. certification came in November 2003, when sophomore album ‘Machine’ was awarded gold.

The band originally disbanded in 2013, followed by the passing of frontman Wayne Static in 2014. Surviving members later revived the project in 2018, returning to the stage with Edsel Dope fronting the band as the masked persona Xer0, created as a tribute to Wayne.

Since reuniting, the band has heavily celebrated the legacy of ‘Wisconsin Death Trip’ through anniversary tours, reissues, and festival appearances.

Notably, fellow industrial act Dope — whose vocalist Edsel Dope fronts the revived Static-X live lineup — also recently received their own first gold single certification in the U.S.
