System Of A Down have officially earned their first Diamond certification in the United States, with the RIAA awarding a fresh batch of honors to several tracks and their landmark 2001 album, ‘Toxicity.’
The band’s sophomore record has now reached 7x Platinum status in the U.S., representing more than seven million certified units. The album had previously been certified 6x Platinum in July 2022.
Leading the latest round of accolades is “Chop Suey!”, which has officially reached 10x Platinum status, making it System Of A Down’s first Diamond-certified single. The track was previously certified 5x Platinum in July 2022.
Several additional songs from ‘Toxicity’ have also received new certifications, while a number of the album’s deeper cuts have picked up their first Gold or Platinum honors.

In the United States, Gold certification represents 500,000 units, while Platinum represents one million. Diamond status is awarded at 10 million units.
The RIAA’s modern certification system factors in physical and digital sales alongside streaming activity. For albums, 1,500 on-demand audio or video streams count as one album unit, while 10 permanent track downloads equal one unit. Individual songs also accumulate certification-eligible units through sales and streaming.
With “Chop Suey!” now joining the Diamond club, System Of A Down have added another major milestone to the enduring legacy of ‘Toxicity,’ more than two decades after the album first arrived.
