SYSTEM OF A DOWN Revive Black Sabbath Cover For First Time Since 2002

System Of A Down launched their run of North American stadium shows last night, August 27th, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The Armenian-American nü-metal legends delivered a 26-song set filled with surprises, including a heartfelt tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

For the first time since 2002, the band performed their cover of Black Sabbath’s “Snowblind”, originally recorded in 2000 for Nativity In Black II: A Tribute To Black Sabbath. Before playing the track, guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian reflected on their history with Ozzfest and led the crowd in a rousing “Ozzy” chant, sharing:

“We did a few Ozzfests. Some of you are old enough that you were there. Some of you weren’t even born yet. I want to thank Ozzy Osbourne. We want to thank Ozzy Osbourne.”

The band also dusted off “Tentative” from Hypnotize for the first time since 2015, and slipped brief medleys into “Lonely Day” and “Lost In Hollywood”, nodding to The Go-Go’s “Our Lips Are Sealed” and The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”
