Fans of System Of A Down were surprised this week when the band’s breakthrough album, the 6× multi-platinum Toxicity, vanished from Spotify without explanation. As of press time, the landmark 2001 release remains unavailable on the platform but is still accessible on other major streaming services, including Apple Music and YouTube Music.

While several key tracks from Toxicity—including the title track—can still be streamed on Spotify via compilations and EPs, the full album is no longer listed under the band’s main discography. System Of A Down have not publicly commented on the disappearance.

Situations like this are not entirely uncommon, particularly with legacy releases tied to complex major-label contracts. Temporary takedowns can occur due to rights updates, distribution changes, or backend disputes. Interestingly, some of the band’s older tracks, such as “Marmalade” and “P.L.U.C.K.”, have recently been reuploaded through official digital channels, suggesting a potential catalog reshuffle may be underway.

Given that the title track of Toxicity crossed the 1 billion stream milestone on Spotify last fall, it’s likely the band and their team are working to restore the album’s availability sooner rather than later.
