A social media dispute has erupted between The Callous Daoboys and Kim Dracula after the Atlanta mathcore outfit publicly accused the genre-bending artist of lifting a breakdown from one of their recent songs.
The controversy centers on “Molecular Conversion,” Kim Dracula’s newly released single that debuted alongside news of their signing to Rise Records. Shortly after the track arrived online on July 22, The Callous Daoboys shared a comparison clip on X, highlighting similarities between a section of the new song and their April release, “Gigantic Parasite Tongue.”
Alongside the video comparison, the band jokingly wrote:
“Cool breakdown @kimdrac glad you liked the song lol”
The post quickly gained attention among fans, sparking debate over whether the similarities were coincidental, influenced by common genre conventions, or something more substantial.
Adding fuel to the discussion, The Callous Daoboys vocalist Carson Pace weighed in with a brief comment of his own:
“AI do the daoboys thing”
At the time of publication, Kim Dracula has not publicly responded to the allegations.
While accusations of borrowed riffs and breakdowns are nothing new in heavy music, the dispute arrives on the same day as the release of “Molecular Conversion,” placing additional attention on what was otherwise intended to be a celebratory launch of Kim Dracula’s new era with Rise Records.
Whether the similarities amount to direct inspiration, coincidence, or something else entirely remains a matter of opinion, but the online conversation surrounding both artists is unlikely to die down anytime soon.
