A massive new tribute to late heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne has been unveiled at this year’s Hellfest Open Air in Clisson, France.
Standing six meters tall, the sculpture was created by acclaimed French artist Philippe Pasqua and was officially revealed during this week’s festivities. Ozzy’s widow, Sharon Osbourne, shared images of the monument on social media on June 18 and explained why she was unable to attend the unveiling in person.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t be at Hellfest for the unveiling of Ozzy’s statue. Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week. A big thank you Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud and everyone at Hellfest. Special thank you to @philippe_pasqua_officiel for the absolutely stunning statue!”
The towering tribute joins another monument already located on the festival grounds honoring Lemmy Kilmister, the late frontman and bassist of Motörhead. That statue has become a pilgrimage site for fans attending the French festival in recent years.
The addition of Ozzy’s likeness further cements Hellfest’s reputation for celebrating some of the most influential figures in rock and metal history.
