    Trapt Replaced By Priest (Ex-Ghost) on Powerman 5000 Tour with Ill Niño, Etc.

    Last week, Powerman 5000, Ill Niño, (hed)p.e., and The Great Alone unveiled plans for their upcoming U.S. summer trek, ‘The Taste Of Armageddon Tour.’ However, the initial announcement also included Trapt as part of the lineup—a decision that quickly sparked backlash due to the ongoing controversies surrounding frontman Chris Taylor Brown. The tour’s announcement was subsequently pulled from various platforms.

    Now officially re-announced, the tour will move forward with Priest (ex-Ghost) replacing Trapt on the bill. Powerman 5000, Ill Niño, and (hed)p.e. will remain as the headlining acts, while The Great Alone will open each night, followed by Priest in the second slot.

    Trapt has yet to publicly address their removal from ‘The Taste Of Armageddon Tour’, but frontman Chris Taylor Brown recently took to social media to reflect on the band’s distancing from political discourse.

    In a post last week, Brown wrote:

    “Blessed to have fans that stuck with us through all the 2020 Trump support hate. So close to hitting a million listeners in a week! We were at 994k yesterday, lol. Come on Spotify, let’s hit that million mark! As soon as Trump won last year, the hate has dialed up. Seems Trump haters need an outlet to bare their frustration, sadly. Trapt has not spoken about anything other than music for years now. Again, thank you to our fans for having our backs through it all! ~CTB”

Basically 5+ ex members all have beef with the same dude, the band’s drummer/cofounder Dave, who also got in some recent heat over scamming smaller artists with his tour bus company. Couple that with in fighting, lying to fans & taking their money for pre orders while not releasing the album they’ve been hyping up for 5 years

      I still remember the show in Texas back in like 2002 or 2003 where the PM5K front man was yelling at the crowd for not being excited enough about them, and then when people in the pit got a bit more wild he was like “omg stop, I’m sorry stop don’t do that”.

He was more interested in hooking up with bartenders over signing autographs for young fans who just bought all his trash merchandise I was disgusted tbh. On the way out.         Brian Lacoste See, I strangely had the opposite experience. I saw Trapt at a small bar in town on my Birthday a few years ago and fully expected Chris to be a dickhead based on all the online political rants and stuff. I wasn’t even sure if anyone would come out after the show but he did and he was actually a surprisingly chill guy. There weren’t that many of us left at the bar but he sat around and shot the shit with fans, taking pics and signing autographs. My friend that I was there with had a whole ass convo with Chris about his girlfriend and basically used meeting Chris as bragging rights for awhile.

        Shortly afterward, that friend (on the right of the pic) ended up stabbing his girlfriend to death and went to prison. That whole experience seems like a kind of fever dream now.

And lets be real, what guy HASNT made the “i wish i fucked my teacher” jokes, or even knew guys who had, and treated it like a trophy. It doesn’t make the behavior ok, and its absolutely illegal and shouldnt be condoned, but from what I’ve seen on the issue, it genuinely came off like a joke.
          It started off on the topic of whether or not an adult dating a teen was *specifically* pedophilia, to which CTB sait it wasnt, its legally classified as something else. To that point a commenter said something to the effect of “what if it was your son and a teacher?” And he said hed high-five his son. It was an obviously intentional troll moment that got flipped on its head for sensationalism because hes a Trump supporter, and everyone LOVES to misquote Trump and his supporters.
          The whole conversation was ridiculous, and unnecessary, but the response to it was even more so… but that said, I’ve not followed it as closely as you aparently have, so I’m open to further disclosure of what was said in those THOUSANDS of comments, because if its anything actually incriminating, I’m all for holding him accountable. So… I’m all eyes and ears over here.🤷‍♂️

      Trapt was never good. They were a one hit wonder 20 years ago. The only reason they had even one song blow up is because it was featured on a Halo soundtrack. After that, it was all down hill.         James Richard Trapt’s first album yielded a few hits. Headstrong, Still Frame, Echo (the video for which features the late Michelle Trachtenberg). They weren’t like arena headlining big but they were still a fairly big deal for a little bit. They basically fell off by the release of the 2nd album.

Sure, they didn’t have a ton of hits but they definitely had more than one, even if they were all only from one album. I liked them enough that their 2nd album was one of the first CDs I bought after getting my first job. I was kinda surprised at the time that their popularity had basically fizzled out by then.

          Logan Taylor I didn’t say they were a phenomenon. They were known enough within in rock circles in the early 2000s. In other words, they weren’t totally obscure. They were on a big label and had a fair bit of promo for their first album. You saw articles about them in rock magazines.

          I do actually remember someone saying they met them at some rock festival in the early 2000s and that they weren’t all that friendly. He said Drowning Pool were much more engaging with fans. That’s why I was actually shocked that CTB wasn’t a complete dickhole after the show they played in a local downtown bar a few years ago.

          Brandon I googled “Trapt hits” and listened to as much as I could stand of Echo and Who’s Going Home With You Tonight, which were the top ones after Headstrong. I listened to a lot of alt rock radio during their supposed heyday and I never heard any of these other songs. Are you thinking of Breaking Benjamin, maybe?
