Varials have premiered the official music video for their latest single, “The Hurt Chamber.” The track appears on the band’s forthcoming studio album, ‘Where The Light Leaves’, which is scheduled to arrive on February 27th via Fearless Records.
The video was created by visual collective Midvessel and pairs stark, oppressive imagery with one of the most emotionally charged performances the band have released to date. The song also serves as a defining moment for vocalist Skyler Conder, who joined Varials last year and makes his first recorded studio appearance with the band on this track.
Conder explained that “The Hurt Chamber” explores the cycle of addiction and self-destruction in its many forms:
“‘The Hurt Chamber’ is a song strictly about being addicted to a high that is inevitably difficult to break. Whether that be love, drugs, or a certain type of situation, you become blind to what’s happening, all of the bad disappears because it always feels amazing. But it’s doing nothing but harming you throughout every time you become close to it. The ache becomes a salvation of sorts. You enter the hurt chamber and you never want to leave.”
Musically, the song balances suffocating heaviness with a haunting sense of vulnerability, highlighting Conder’s vocal range and emotional delivery while pushing Varials further into their darker, more introspective territory.
