After years of delays, VIMIC are finally gearing up to share “In Your Shadow”, a track originally written during the 2016–2017 sessions for their long-awaited debut Open Your Omen. The single, now set to premiere on August 8th, marks the beginning of the band’s return following a successful crowdfunding campaign that resurrected the project.
The release of Open Your Omen had been stalled by a series of tragedies, most notably the 2018 death of producer Kato Khandwala in a motorcycle accident and the passing of Joey Jordison (ex-Slipknot, etc.) in 2021. Jordison not only played drums for VIMIC but was also a co-founder and central creative force behind the band.
“In Your Shadow” was initially penned as a tribute to Peter Steele (Type O Negative), but over time, the song’s meaning has evolved—now serving as a dual homage to both Steele and Jordison. The track’s emotionally charged legacy adds deeper weight to its long-overdue release.
Open Your Omen is officially set to drop on October 3rd, the same day the band will celebrate its launch with a special live show at The Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, CA. That performance will also serve as a benefit for The Joey Jordison Charitable Fund and will feature guest drummers including Ash Pearson (Revocation), Luana Dametto (Crypta), and 10-year-old phenom Caleb Hayes.
