VIMIC Stream “In Your Shadow,” Tribute to Peter Steele and Late Drummer Joey Jordison

VIMIC have released “In Your Shadow”, a powerful tribute to the late goth metal icon Peter Steele of Type O Negative. Originally written as a homage to Steele, the song has also come to honor the band’s late drummer, Joey Jordison (ex-Slipknot). Vocalist Kalen Chase spoke to Revolver about the 2014 track’s origins:

“Maybe it was in my head, but it’s where I went with it. Joey was a big fan of Peter Steele and actually introduced me to him in 2007, so there was no pushback on writing a tribute song about him. It’s a departure from the more extreme material we were doing for the record, which made it feel fresh. Playing it live was special because everyone had someone specific in mind they were playing for. Now we’re playing it for Joey.”

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, VIMIC are preparing to finally release their long-shelved debut album, Open Your Omens, which was written and recorded between 2016 and 2017. To celebrate the release, the band will reunite onstage for a special show dedicated to Jordison’s memory and raising funds for a charity established in his name.

The release show is scheduled for October 3rd at the Teragram Ballroom, coinciding with the album’s official release date. Filling in on drums for the night will be Ash Pearson of Revocation, Luana Dametto of Crypta, and drumming prodigy Caleb Hayes, who is just 10 years old.
