The 2026 ‘GRAMMY Awards’ took place today, February 1st, in Los Angeles, CA, with the rock, metal, and alternative categories once again presented during the Premiere Ceremony held earlier at the Peacock Theater ahead of tonight’s televised broadcast.
Among the performers during the Premiere Ceremony were Canadian alternative metal standouts Spiritbox, who took the stage to perform “Soft Spine.” The band earned their third GRAMMY nomination this year, competing in the Best Metal Performance category following the success of their gold-certified 2024 single “Circle With Me.”
Despite the high-profile performance, Spiritbox came up short in the category, as Turnstile emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners. The Baltimore melodic hardcore favorites claimed Best Metal Performance for “Birds”, while also taking home Best Rock Album for ‘NEVER ENOUGH’.
YUNGBLUD also earned his first-ever GRAMMY Award, winning Best Rock Performance for his live cover of Black Sabbath’s “Changes.” The performance was recorded during Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s final live sendoff, ‘Back To The Beginning,’ held last July at Villa Park. The rendition featured Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Adam Wakeman, and II (Sleep Token). Sharon Osbourne joined the group onstage to accept the award.
Industrial rock icons Nine Inch Nails picked up Best Rock Song for “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” from the upcoming ‘Tron: Ares’ soundtrack, though no members of the band were present to accept the award.
