Chris Fronzak, vocalist for Attila, is once again making headlines—this time for a public spat with YouTube megastar Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast. The controversy stems from MrBeast’s new charitable initiative, #TeamWater, which aims to provide clean drinking water to millions around the world.
Following Attila’s recent cancellation of their European tour, Fronzak took to social media on Monday, August 4th, to criticize the validity of MrBeast’s latest philanthropic endeavor.
#TeamWater is described on its official website as:
“A creator-led crowdfunding campaign to change millions of lives around the world through access to clean water. Led by MrBeast and Mark Rober, and powered by the biggest team of content creators on the internet, we’re raising $40 million to provide 2 million people with life-changing access to clean water for decades.”
The campaign builds on the success of previous efforts like #TeamTrees and #TeamSeas. The project’s current goal is to raise $40 million—stating that $1 provides clean water for one person for a year, with long-term benefits projected to last up to 20 years. As of now, nearly $10 million has already been raised.
However, Fronzak cast doubt on the sustainability of MrBeast’s previous efforts to build wells in Africa in 2023, quote-tweeting a celebratory post about #TeamWater and saying:
“I see a lot of discourse about this, but NO ONE is mentioning the fact that MrBeast went to Africa & built 100 wells in 2023 & they all failed 1 year later due to lack of maintenance. I believe everyone should always help other people, but this idea already failed?”
MrBeast quickly clapped back, calling the claim completely false:
“That’s literally a flat out lie. We recently had the 100 wells audited because of these false rumors (which erodes trust in philanthropic efforts and is not cool) and the wells are working…”
Fronzak wasn’t finished. He issued a public challenge on Tuesday, August 5th, offering to back up his words with his wallet:
“Okay! Send me the audit that shows that ALL 100 wells are still working today and I’ll send $5,000 to your new water project.”
As of publishing time, MrBeast has yet to respond to Fronzak’s request.
