Butcher Babies have unveiled a new music video for their latest single, “Leaving California,” offering a visual companion to the track ahead of the release of their upcoming sixth studio album ‘Nigthbloom’.
The video was once again directed by vocalist Heidi Shepherd, with the band also handling much of the production internally.
“Leaving California” will appear on ‘Nigthbloom’, which is scheduled for release on October 2 through Judge & Jury Records.
Shepherd explained that the song began taking shape in 2020, inspired by the major changes she was seeing around her in California and her own decision to leave the state.
“I wasn’t only breaking up with California, I was moving on from a life that I am so grateful to have experienced, but needed a change.”
Shepherd said the song ultimately captures the uncertainty and excitement that comes with leaving behind something familiar in search of a new beginning.
“‘Leaving California’ is about that bittersweet moment where new beginnings seem daunting, yet, oh so, exciting.”
