Daniel Williams, former drummer for The Devil Wears Prada, was among the victims of a tragic plane crash that occurred this morning (May 22nd) in the Tierrasanta area of San Diego, CA. In a heartbreaking detail, Williams had shared an Instagram story from the aircraft during takeoff the night prior.
The private plane was piloted by Dave Shapiro, renowned music agent and co-founder of Sound Talent Group. Shapiro also perished in the crash, along with everyone else on board. According to a report from CBS8, the crash impacted at least 15 homes and destroyed multiple vehicles.
Sound Talent Group released a statement earlier today addressing the loss:
“We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.”
Williams was a founding member of The Devil Wears Prada, performing with the band from 2005 until his departure in 2016. His former bandmates shared a brief but emotional tribute on social media following the news:
“no words. We owe you everything. Love you forever.”
