Deftones fans woke up to a surprise this weekend, as material believed to originate from the band’s long-shelved album ‘Eros’ and sessions for 2020’s ‘Ohms’ reportedly began circulating online. The alleged leaks have quickly become a major topic of discussion across fan communities and message boards.
Among the material said to have surfaced are 11 recordings from the ‘Eros’ sessions, including the previously released song “Smile.” The album was famously abandoned following bassist Chi Cheng’s devastating 2008 car accident. Cheng remained in a minimally conscious state for several years before passing away in 2013.
According to those sharing the recordings, the tracks appear to be rough demos and working versions rather than finished studio masters. In a 2025 interview, vocalist/guitarist Chino Moreno stated that ‘Eros’ remained largely unfinished and indicated that the band preferred to leave the project unreleased.
The alleged ‘Eros’ track sequence being circulated is as follows:
‘Eros’ (Reported Working Titles)
- “Destiny”
- “Brenda”
- “Melanie”
- “Smile”
- “Margot”
- “Candy”
- “Sable”
- “Electra”
- “Trempest”
- “Diamond”
- “Briana”
In addition to the purported ‘Eros’ recordings, demos connected to ‘Ohms’ have also reportedly surfaced. Those recordings are said to include an unreleased song titled “Sensations.” Copies of the material have already begun making the rounds online, with uploads and discussions appearing across various platforms.
At the time of writing, Deftones have yet to publicly comment on the authenticity of the recordings or address the reports surrounding the alleged leaks.
