Progressive death metal veterans Extol have released their new track “Merciless Hunger,” offering another preview of their long-awaited comeback album, ‘Aura Of Decay.’
The forthcoming record is scheduled to arrive November 6 via Solid State Records and will mark the band’s first full-length album of new material since 2013. The release represents a significant return for the Norwegian progressive metal outfit, whose technical approach and extreme sound have earned them a lasting place in the genre.
Vocalist Peter Espevoll shared some insight into the meaning behind “Merciless Hunger,” describing the track as a warning about people who use the language of faith and morality to disguise their pursuit of power.
“It is a warning against those who seek to usurp the beliefs of others, cloaking their hunger for power in a language of love, truth, and sacred justice.”
With ‘Aura Of Decay’ arriving in just a few weeks, “Merciless Hunger” gives listeners another glimpse into Extol’s return and the themes driving the band’s first new album in more than a decade.
