Once a defining presence in the nü-metal scene, bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu has remained absent from Korn for several years, having initially stepped away in 2021 to focus on addressing what he described as “bad habits.” While his departure initially sparked concern among fans, Fieldy later clarified that his issues were not drug-related.
As Fieldy continued his hiatus, Korn brought in Ra Díaz of Suicidal Tendencies to handle bass duties for live performances, a role he has maintained ever since. Meanwhile, Fieldy’s creative output has been channeled into his own band, Stillwell.
Despite his prolonged absence from touring or recording with Korn, Fieldy remains listed as a member of the influential Bakersfield outfit, though his connection with the band appears to have become distant.
During a newly released episode of Basement Talk, Fieldy was asked about his current standing with the band. While he didn’t provide many details, he admitted that he hasn’t kept in touch with them, stating [transcribed by The PRP]:
“I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019. We just kinda both…. They’re truckin’. They’re a machine, they’re going. It’s insane. It’s dope that they can keep on going like that.”
When questioned if there was still mutual respect between him and his former bandmates, Fieldy responded:
“Yeah. It’s cool to see them keep on going. I’m like, I need to chill, I’m just kickin’ it.”
During the podcast, Fieldy also gave the hosts a tour of his home and personal studio. As the conversation progressed, he revealed he’s working on another book and remains deeply invested in his artistic passions, including painting and making music.
Touching on his future musical plans, he shared that Stillwell, featuring himself, P.O.D. drummer Noah “Wuv” Benardo, and vocalist/guitarist Q-Unique, is undergoing a transformation with an expanded lineup and a heavier sonic approach. He explained:
“We’re doing music with—well, it was Stillwell—but we’re redoing everything. It’s gonna be heavier, more like what the people want. You know, ‘cause you got Wuv from P.O.D., you got me, Q on vocals. Vladimir on the keys right here, Jamie on guitar, Rob on guitar, so we’re a five-piece now. It’s heavy. It’s dope, I’m excited about it.”
With fresh music in development and a revamped lineup, Fieldy appears focused on forging ahead creatively, even as his status with Korn remains uncertain.

Now more revenue is generated from touring and merch sales not album sales. As a result the most important people in the band stay and the people who contribute less depart bands. This is true for inflames, machine head , Korn, slipknot and slayer.. lost members largely due to decline in revenue.

Michael Laird Jr. Just so everyone understands. Just because he played with them doesn’t mean he’s talked to them. There’s a lot of bug bands who treat it like a job. They just show up when it’s time fir rehearsal or to go on stage. They don’t hang out with the other members. I was in a bar band for 15 yrs and sometimes i didn’t really talk to the other guys in the band about anything other than the weather or what our bookings were. It’s pretty common.

It’s always been Munky’s band. I dig the new line up, but totally agree on David and Fieldy being as important as anyone early on. The first 2 albums are the absolute best, in terms of pure artistic creative quality. No BS just 2 guitars, drums, and bass…with one of the most powerful (slightly nasally) enigmatic voices on top.
What fieldy means is he has not spoken to the other guys creativity since 2019.
If you listen carefully to Requiem, I can barely hear Fieldy’s bass at all.
His parts sound like they are drowned out and buried within the rest of them. Unlike other korn albums. Fieldy sounds like he had no creative input at all, or he could be bothered.
Sounds like he just had enough of the same old songs and sound and felt the need to give korn a big break and find himself.
