Jason Momoa Hits the Pit as ‘Game Of Thrones’ Stars, Jack Black & More Join Ozzy & Sabbath Farewell in Birmingham

The ‘Back To The Beginning’ farewell concert for Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne went down on July 05th in Birmingham, UK — and it wasn’t just a gathering of metal legends. The all-star event drew a heavy dose of celebrity firepower from across film, television, and music, including Jason Momoa, Maisie Williams, D.B. Weiss, and Jack Black.

Jason Momoa—best known for his roles in ‘Game Of Thrones’, ‘Aquaman’, and more—served as the official host of the evening. Never one to simply stand on the sidelines, Momoa made his way into the pit during Pantera’s set, continuing his trend of going full metal fan at major shows. Also spotted backstage were fellow ‘Game Of Thrones’ alum Maisie Williams and series co-creator D.B. Weiss, whose son Hugo Weiss took part in a special onstage tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during the event. That performance featured Jack Black delivering a powerful rendition of “Mr. Crowley,” backed by an all-star lineup of next-gen talent: Roman Morello (son of Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine) on guitar, Revel Young Ian (son of Anthrax’s Scott Ian) on bass, and Yoyoka Soma on drums.

Tom Morello, who also acted as musical director for the night’s supergroup tributes, appeared on stage multiple times throughout the night. A longtime friend of D.B. Weiss, the two are known to regularly bond over Dungeons & Dragons campaigns off stage.

With metal royalty performing, Hollywood icons in the pit, and a cross-generational celebration of heavy music, ‘Back To The Beginning’ was more than a farewell — it was a full-circle moment honoring the legacy of Black Sabbath, the enduring power of Ozzy Osbourne, and the future they’ve inspired.
