Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has seemingly addressed the growing speculation surrounding Sid Wilson’s reported departure from the band.
Earlier on July 31st, TMZ reported that Wilson had allegedly been fired from Slipknot, citing a source said to be familiar with the situation. No official reason for the reported dismissal was provided, and neither Wilson nor the band have publicly commented on the report.
As rumors and fan theories quickly spread across social media, Root posted a message to his Instagram Story that appeared to urge caution before jumping to conclusions.
“Don’t believe every thing you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”
While Root did not specifically mention Wilson or the TMZ report, many fans interpreted the statement as a response to the ongoing speculation surrounding the situation.
If Wilson’s reported exit is confirmed, it would mark the latest lineup change for the Iowa metal giants. Wilson was one of the band’s original members and has been a fixture of Slipknot’s live and studio lineup since the group’s early days.
As it currently stands, only four members from the band’s classic late-1990s and early-2000s era would remain in the lineup: Corey Taylor, Jim Root, M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and Mick Thomson.
At this time, no official statement has been issued by Slipknot regarding Wilson’s status with the band.
