After profiting from their music for five decades, KISS has now made a monumental sale, raking in over $300 million. The legendary classic rock band, known for their multi-platinum albums, officially bid farewell with a concluding tour last December, transitioning to digital avatars. They’ve sold their catalog, master recordings, publishing rights, as well as their name, image, and likenesses to Pophouse Entertainment Group AB.
Pophouse Entertainment Group AB, recognized for their work with ABBA‘s digital avatars, will also manage KISS‘s digital revival. While the specifics of the deal remain undisclosed, Fortune covered the noteworthy transaction.
In an interview with People, vocalist/bassist Gene Simmons offered the following regarding the sale:
“We’ve all seen boxers and artists who will stay in the ring too long and get knocked out by some amateur. You don’t want to do that, you want to go out on top. And we did it the right way, out of respect and love for the fans.”
