Korn fans waiting on a follow-up to 2022’s Requiem may need to stay patient a bit longer. Guitarist Brian “Head” Welch recently addressed the band’s current outlook on recording new material, explaining that they’re enjoying a break from the typical album cycle rather than rushing back into the studio.
Speaking with Loudwire, Welch said he’s personally embracing the longer gap between releases and the flexibility it has given the group creatively and professionally:
“I really love the fact that it’s taking a long time. I always told management that I wish that we would wait a little bit between albums. We’re just so addicted to the studio that we get in there and we’re putting albums out every two or three years, ever since I rejoined. And so I love that there’s been delays.”
With decades of material behind them, Welch added that the band is prioritizing touring and performance rather than treating a new record as an immediate necessity:
“We’re a fortunate band, we’ve been around for awhile and we’ve got an extensive catalog with a lot of well-known songs. We’re focusing right now on our live show … It feels like we don’t even need a new album. Everything’s just going so well, but that’s not to say we’re not going to find some time to go in again. I feel like it’s not priority right now.”
That doesn’t mean plans are completely off the table. Welch indicated that discussions are coming soon and hinted at potential developments later this year:
“We’re going to meet together and see where we’re at. There could be a couple of surprises this year … We’re going to have some cool announcements for dates around the world and stuff coming this year.”
Welch’s comments came while promoting Zahna’s track “Defiler,” which features his guest appearance. He previously signed the artist to his XOVR Records imprint in 2024.

Y’all be forgetting they have a private life too
That’s the thing people want new music material but complaint when they get it and it wasn’t the best of work but are the same people to complain about it being awhile for a new album Rome wasn’t built in a day.
