Nü-metal pioneers Korn are facing online backlash after fans accused the band of using AI-generated imagery in promotional product mockups for a new merch drop celebrating their 1999 album Issues.
The release includes a blind-box series of four keychain-style plush dolls, each modeled after the iconic doll artwork featured on one of the various Issues album cover variants. The collection is part of a wider anniversary merch push tied to the record’s 3x platinum status.
However, attention quickly shifted away from the collectibles themselves and toward the packaging visuals displayed on the band’s official store. Fans on Reddit and social media pointed out what they described as misspelled text, warped lettering, and inconsistent design elements, claiming these are hallmarks of AI-generated mockups.
While there is no indication that the physical packaging contains these errors, the digital promotional images have sparked debate around the increasing use of AI tools in music merchandising and visual branding. Critics argue that even limited use in marketing materials raises questions about authenticity, especially for legacy bands with strong visual identities.
The controversy highlights a broader tension in the music industry as AI-generated imagery becomes more common in promotional workflows, with fans increasingly scrutinizing where and how it is used.
The plush doll collection remains available through Korn Official Store.

So what.
While bad, this seems more on whoever does their website/PR/Label/management rather than the band. I doubt they create, upload, or manage any of this other than “yeah that sounds like a cool merch idea”. But that is just an assumption.
