North Carolina horror-deathcore outfit Larcenia Roe have returned with a brand new standalone single, “Sandy Cheeks,” released today, July 28th, through Unique Leader Records.
The track arrives alongside an accompanying music video and finds the band tackling a politically charged subject matter. According to the group, the song serves as a critique of U.S. military spending and government priorities in the decades following the September 11th attacks.
Discussing the inspiration behind the track, the band stated:
“‘Sandy Cheeks’ questions the United States’ defense spending on foreign conflict. Since 2001, the U.S. has spent roughly $8 trillion on post-9/11 wars and related costs. Since 2022, Congress has also committed hundreds of billions of dollars to overseas military assistance, security support, and military operations tied to conflicts abroad. Meanwhile, the Pentagon has never passed a full financial audit, and the national debt has climbed to more than $39 trillion.”
The release marks the band’s first new standalone material since the arrival of their critically praised debut full-length album last year.
Larcenia Roe won’t have much downtime following the song’s release. Later this week, they will hit the road alongside AngelMaker and Ingested for an extensive North American run spanning Canada and the United States.
