Megadeth are preparing for another busy year on the road in 2027, with frontman Dave Mustaine confirming that Anthrax and Kerry King’s solo band are expected to join the thrash metal veterans on an upcoming North American tour run.
Mustaine discussed the band’s future plans during an October 15 appearance on ‘Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,’ revealing that Megadeth intend to take several familiar names along for the ride as their farewell tour continues. The lineup would bring together two of thrash metal’s legendary Big Four bands, while also adding the guitarist behind Slayer to the bill.
King, who briefly played with Megadeth early in his career, will reportedly appear with his own band. The announcement also comes despite a history of public friction between King and Mustaine, with the Slayer guitarist previously criticizing the Megadeth frontman.
Speaking about the band’s international schedule and upcoming touring partners, Mustaine said:
“There’s a lot of really great touring opportunities for us. We’re gonna be doing the States, we’re gonna be going back to Europe, we’re gonna be going down into the Asian territories. We’re leaving in a couple weeks to New Zealand, and followed up with Australia. And just going back to Korea. We hadn’t been there in almost 20 years. So we’ve got a lot of really great things we’re doing. We’re looking at going back to India. And [there’s talk of us] going down to South Africa, which would be great, ’cause that’s one of the territories that I haven’t been to that I really wanna go to.
The touring is heavy, and we’ve decided to take out a lot of our friends. Anthrax and Kerry King are going out with us on the next run. After that, we’re going out with Black Label Society and Testament [in Europe], which is gonna be great. I love both those bands. And many more. Many, many more.”
Alongside the prospective U.S. dates with Anthrax and Kerry King, Megadeth are also looking toward a European run featuring Black Label Society and Testament. Mustaine additionally mentioned plans to visit New Zealand, Australia and South Korea, with potential returns to India and a possible first trip to South Africa.
Specific dates and venues for the 2027 touring plans have not yet been announced.
