Staind have officially revealed the title of their upcoming ninth studio album. Frontman Aaron Lewis confirmed in a recent interview with Audacy that the band’s next full-length will be called ‘The Space Between The Darkness And The Light.’
The record was completed this past spring with producer Erik Ron, whose previous credits include work with Godsmack and Papa Roach. While the band have yet to lock in an official release date, previous comments suggested they were considering an early 2027 arrival.
Staind offered fans their first taste of the new material on October 14 with the release of “Ghosts,” the album’s lead single. During his conversation with Audacy, Lewis expressed confidence in the finished record, describing it as a continuation of the band’s established sound and lyrical perspective.
“I’m pretty confident in saying that it’s a hell of a record and I’m proud to put it out. And that’s kind of where I’ve needed to be at the end of every writing and recording process for Staind, is to be proud of it and feel like anybody could pick any song off the record and that could be a single, and I’d be perfectly okay with it. And that’s where we got, and I think this is a great record, and I think it’s a great continuation of the thread that you can follow in Staind’s music, which is my lyrical content. And it fits right in with everything before it perfectly.”
Lewis also reflected on the deeply personal themes that have connected Staind’s albums throughout the band’s career, explaining how his songwriting continues to draw from the lasting effects of childhood trauma.
“Basically, all the Staind records — start from the beginning and move forward — has been an adult man trying to navigate his way through the wreckage that was left behind from childhood trauma. And I’m 54 years old now, and I’m still trying to make my way through the wreckage that was left behind.”
With ‘The Space Between The Darkness And The Light,’ Staind appear poised to continue that long-running lyrical thread, pairing Lewis’ introspective writing with a new collection of material. An official release date and further album details have yet to be announced.
