Nervosa have been forced to withdraw from their scheduled UK tour with Xentrix as vocalist and guitarist Prika Amaral deals with worsening health concerns related to severe allergic reactions.
The Brazilian thrash/death metal band announced the cancellation on October 18, reassuring fans that the decision is focused on Amaral’s health and that their upcoming North American tour remains on schedule.
In a statement addressed to their UK fans, the band expressed their disappointment at having to change their plans while promising to return as soon as possible.
“To all the friends across the UK.
If one thing is certain in life is that Nervosa loves the road. We never cancel shows but unfortunately due to health concerns with Prika, we will not be able to make the UK run with Xentrix. Don’t worry; we will be back up and running again extremely soon. The tour in North America is NOT cancel and it will happen. Prika just needs time to get better and she will explain more in her social media. We promise we will make it up to you all!
We Promise!
Love- Nervosa”
Amaral subsequently shared more details about her condition in a personal statement, explaining that she first experienced cold urticaria, an allergic reaction to cold temperatures, during a North American tour in October 2024. Although initial medical tests did not reveal anything abnormal, she said her symptoms have become increasingly severe over the past five months.
The reactions have reportedly expanded beyond cold temperatures, with Amaral identifying sunlight, sand, dish soap, sweat, sunscreen, and other triggers as additional concerns. She also described a particularly serious episode involving widespread swelling, intense burning and itching, and the risk of anaphylactic shock.
Despite trying various antihistamines and other medications, Amaral said she has not found a treatment that consistently controls the reactions. She has now decided to return to Brazil for further medical investigation and treatment, acknowledging that continuing to prioritize touring could put her life at risk.
“I’ve always put my work first, but I can’t keep doing that when my life is clearly at risk. That’s why I’m coming back to Brazil to undergo a thorough investigation and get the proper treatment.
Everything is going to be fine, but I need to take at least two months off, and I need to do it now.”
The vocalist also apologized to fans in the UK and the Netherlands who will be affected by the cancellations, while teasing that more news could be coming for those audiences in the future.
For fans in North America, however, Amaral offered reassurance that the planned tour will go ahead.
“To my fans in North America: the tour will definitely happen, and I’ll be ready to get back on stage!
Thank you so much for your understanding and support!
See you soon on the road!”
With Amaral expecting to take at least two months away from touring, Nervosa’s immediate priority is her recovery. The band have reiterated that their North American dates are not canceled, though Amaral’s treatment and progress will remain important as she works toward returning to the stage.
