The ongoing war of words between Roger Waters and Disturbed vocalist David Draiman has intensified after comments Draiman made on The Magnificent Others With Billy Corgan were brought to Waters’ attention.
Draiman, who has publicly supported Israel and frequently criticized Waters over his stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict, discussed the former Pink Floyd member during a February-recorded appearance on the podcast hosted by Billy Corgan.
When Corgan brought up Waters, Draiman quickly dismissed the idea of reconciliation and criticized the musician’s politics, saying he felt Waters had “betrayed Jews everywhere” through his public positions.
“I grew up on Pink Floyd. I loved Pink Floyd. It was such a massive betrayal, not just to me, but Jews everywhere when he went in the direction that he did.”
Draiman also accused Waters of aligning himself with authoritarian leaders and questioned whether meaningful dialogue with him was still possible.
Later in the conversation, Corgan asked whether Draiman would still sit down with Waters if given the chance.
“I’d have to punch him first, but yeah.”
After clips of the interview circulated online, Waters responded with a public open letter addressed to Corgan. In the message, Waters harshly condemned Draiman and defended his own activism in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
“He is a psychotic racist Nazi pig.”
Waters also said he would have no interest in speaking with Draiman, adding that life was “too short” for such a conversation.
Draiman then answered Waters directly on social media, saying he had remained open to dialogue despite their disagreements.
“And here I was open to dialogue, even with someone I so deeply disagree with. Honestly @rogerwaters, this is the reaction I unfortunately expected.”
He closed his statement by writing:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, right? I’m always willing to try. We must all continue to try. Even with you.”
The latest exchange continues a years-long pattern of public clashes between artists over the Israel-Gaza conflict, with Waters and Draiman representing sharply opposing viewpoints.
