Sharon Osbourne Teases Possible 2027 Ozzfest Return, Plans Orchestral Black Sabbath Shows

While 2025 marked the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, the festival he co-founded with Sharon Osbourne, Ozzfest, may be on the horizon once again. Launched in 1996 after Ozzy was reportedly snubbed by Lollapalooza, the festival helped break bands like Slipknot, System Of A Down, and many others during its decade-plus run. Ozzfest has been dormant since 2018.

In a new interview with Billboard, Sharon Osbourne revealed that she has been in discussions with promoter Live Nation about potentially resurrecting the festival:

“I’ve been talking to Live Nation about bringing [Ozzfest] back recently. It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country. It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”

Sharon indicated that the revived Ozzfest could launch as early as 2027, and would likely take the form of a touring festival rather than the destination-style events of its later years. She also hinted that the return might feature a broader musical mix, stating she’d “like to mix up the genres,” a move sure to intrigue—and possibly divide—metal fans.

In addition to the festival, Sharon is reportedly planning another tribute project to honor her late husband and Black Sabbath. She told Billboard that she has been in discussions with Live Nation to create a tour featuring orchestral renditions of classic Black Sabbath songs, complete with state-of-the-art visuals and stage production.

The announcement follows the band’s final reunion show, ‘Back To The Beginning,’ in July 2025, held in Birmingham, UK. The event raised approximately $10 million for charity and served as the final live farewell to Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away weeks later.
