Sleep Token have publicly distanced themselves from Arcus, a newly teased musical project that has drawn attention for reportedly promoting itself as the work of a “co-creator of Sleep Token.”
The British alternative metal band addressed the situation over the weekend through a statement shared to their Instagram Story, making it clear that they have no official connection to outside projects using their name as a promotional tool.
“A word, for the sake of clarity. Sleep Token has no affiliation with any outside musical project that invokes this name, nor with anyone who uses it to promote one. Such claims are not made with our blessing and are not endorsed by Sleep Token. What is ours is here, and here alone.”
The statement comes amid growing speculation surrounding Arcus, which began teasing its arrival over the past month. The project has reportedly been linked by rumors to a manager associated with Sleep Token during the earlier stages of the band’s career.
Arcus initially made vague references to that past connection in its promotional messaging, prompting questions about the nature of its relationship with Sleep Token. The project has since removed its previous mentions of the band from its social media accounts.
Neither the precise nature of Arcus’ alleged connection to Sleep Token nor the identity behind the “co-creator” description has been established in the information currently available. Sleep Token’s statement, however, draws a firm line between the band and any outside project invoking its name.
For now, Sleep Token have made their position clear: Arcus is not affiliated with the band, and any suggestion otherwise does not have their endorsement.
