Slipknot has announced the dates for the North American leg of their 25th anniversary tour, celebrating their double-platinum self-titled album from 1999. This leg of the tour, named the ‘Here Comes The Pain Tour,’ will feature the masked metal band from Iowa performing alongside Knocked Loose, Orbit Culture, and Vended.
Recently, the band started this tour with a fresh look, including new masks, jumpsuits, and a new drummer. There had been speculation about the identity of the new drummer, with many guessing it was Eloy Casagrande, formerly of Sepultura. Now, the band has confirmed this speculation, breaking their tradition of secrecy.
A recent social media post from Slipknot‘s official accounts, excluding their newest sampler/keyboardist, has stirred up discussions among fans, who suspect the missing member may be Jeff Karnowski. You can find the post and accompanying screencap below.
Jim Root, the band’s guitarist, offered the following regarding the opportunity to look back at the album that brought them so much success:
“We loved what we did with the first record but we didn’t even know if there was gonna be anything after that. We just wanted people to hear it. Selling out of records and shows, having successful tours– those are goals for any band. But the dream scenario in some ways, came true for us.”
M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, the band’s percussionist, said:
“Every time I’ve walked on stage, it’s never been about how many people have been there because my culture, the maggots, always show up. But as we’ve grown as a band, we have had fewer and fewer of those intimate, personal moments, trading them for massive ones. So we’re gonna make it more personal on the anniversary, but how remains to be seen. Just get ready to have your face kicked in. Because we just do what we do, spread that maggot culture – that disease. And you’ve been infected.”
