Slipknot have offered fans a new behind-the-scenes look at the making of their divisive new single “Arsenal”.
The masked metal outfit have shared a montage of footage from the recording sessions for the track, which was surprise-released last week as a standalone single.
“Arsenal” has generated plenty of discussion among fans since its release, with reactions to the song ranging from enthusiastic support to strong criticism.
Despite being recorded during the band’s current studio sessions, guitarist Jim Root has confirmed that “Arsenal” is not intended to appear on Slipknot’s forthcoming eighth studio album.
The band have been working on that album in recent weeks with producer Matt Wallace, who is also credited with assisting on the production of “Arsenal.” Wallace is known for his work with Faith No More and Mushroomhead.
When Slipknot’s next full-length eventually arrives, it will be released through the band’s newly established (sic)est Records imprint, which was launched in partnership with Roadrunner Records/Atlantic Records.
“Arsenal” also represents another step into a new era for Slipknot, following the departures of longtime members Sid Wilson and Craig “133” Jones in recent years.
The behind-the-scenes footage provides a glimpse at the band’s current creative process as they continue work toward their next album.
