Following a chaotic rollout for their self-titled debut album’s 25th anniversary box set, Slipknot are attempting to smooth things over by officially sharing the demo version of “Prosthetics”—a track that helped define their early sound and set the stage for their meteoric rise.
The launch of the highly-anticipated reissue didn’t go as planned on July 21st. A poorly executed teaser countdown and the surprise drop of only 100 blood-filled vinyl box sets—each priced at $250—left many fans frustrated after they sold out instantly. Resellers quickly listed the rare editions online for thousands of dollars, sparking backlash across social media.

To ease tensions, the band announced that nearly 2,000 more copies would be made available starting July 22nd. Among them is a Spotify-exclusive graphite vinyl variant, now up for grabs at a much more reasonable price point with a ship date set for September 5th. Additional variants are expected to roll out through select retailers.
The newly released demo version of “Prosthetics” is part of a massive collection featuring 59 tracks, many of them rare or unreleased, designed to celebrate the enduring legacy of Slipknot—an album that introduced the world to the chaos, intensity, and innovation that would come to define the band.
“Prosthetics” (Demo) is now streaming on all major platforms.
