Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello And System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian Unite For Immigrant Justice-Themed Track “Adjourn It”

Political activism and heavy music have long gone hand-in-hand for Tom Morello and Serj Tankian, and the longtime collaborators are once again joining forces for a new track titled “Adjourn It.”

The upcoming single pairs the Rage Against The Machine guitarist and System Of A Down frontman on another socially conscious release centered around themes of immigration, resistance, and equality.

Adding another layer to the collaboration, the song also includes contributions from Roman Morello, Tom Morello’s 15-year-old son.

Rather than positioning the track as a straightforward reunion song, Morello described “Adjourn It” as directly tied to the current political climate and ongoing humanitarian debates in the United States.

“The persecution of immigrants across the land and the counterforce of a heroic resistance to the rising tide of fascism.”

He also characterized the song as:

“A ‘Freedom Song’ of crushing riffs for justice and equality.”

Pre-saves for the single are now available ahead of its scheduled May 29 release.

While the collaboration itself may excite rock and metal fans, the partnership between Morello and Tankian extends well beyond music. The two artists have spent more than two decades publicly organizing around political and humanitarian causes.

Back in 2002, the pair co-founded Axis Of Justice, an activist organization aimed at mobilizing fans and musicians around social justice issues. The initiative frequently focused on anti-racism efforts, discrimination awareness, and support for grassroots activism within alternative music communities.

Both musicians have consistently woven political messaging into their careers, whether through interviews, benefit events, or the lyrical themes found throughout their respective catalogs.

With “Adjourn It,” Morello and Tankian appear poised to continue that tradition through another collaboration rooted equally in protest and heavy music.
