    Watch: BURY YOUR DEAD Close The Casket On Their Career At ‘New England Metal & Hardcore Festival’

    Boston metalcore veterans Bury Your Dead officially brought their 24-year career to an end last night, September 20th, with a farewell performance at the annual ‘New England Metal & Hardcore Festival’ in Worcester, MA. Fan-filmed footage of the band’s swan song set has since surfaced online.

    This final chapter followed last year’s ‘Furnace Fest’, where frontman Mat Bruso stunned both fans and bandmates by announcing it would be his last show with the group. Earlier this spring, the decision was made to give the band a proper sendoff, leading to the booking of last night’s festival finale.

    The evening didn’t just feature Bruso, as former vocalist Myke Terry and other guests joined the stage to help mark the occasion.

    Before closing out the set, Bruso reflected on the band’s journey and praised his longtime bandmates, drummer Mark Castillo and guitarist Brendan “Slim” MacDonald. Addressing the crowd, he said, “This is their band and I had the privilege of borrowing it for the like 20 fucking years.”

    Bruso ended his time on stage with a heartfelt message to the fans:
    “If this band has ever meant anything to you before, just know you mean so much more to me than you could possibly ever realize, for changing my fucking life.”

      When it comes to my journey into hardcore I’m from upstate New York where Dying Breed straight jacket bands like that were the thing to listen to one day in school a friend handed me a CD called Bury your dead you had me at hello I was introduced to moshcore and byd was the band that did it and my favorite mosh band of all time not to mention im pretty good friends with mark castillo !!!! Rip to the heaviest moshcore band of all.time

      I saw them 20+ years ago at the palladium. While I agree they could have been higher on the band list it was still fantastic witnessing a band of my youth gout out in style. Probably one of the better sets of the evening in my opinion.

      Met these guys in the early 2000’s at Family Values tour in Toronto. Hung out with them and Flyleaf on their bus. Nicest bunch of guys. 🤙🏻🤙🏻

      These guys were so rad. So many good albums and a few that were ahhh what happened but I can ignore those hahaha. Damn sad news.

          Griffin Osborne the people i love are the internet cowards that step in to a thread – say something very obviously sarcastic adn then when they got called out on it in an equally snarky way instead of saying “i probably knew that was coming” decide to act all high and mighty and “logical” – you made a comment in a mosh group on facebook so to talk about 95 percent of the planet kinda makes you sound… silly. The fact that there are so many comments and reactions says that you were indeed trying hard to be edgy and cool and it didn’t work. It’s ok

      What an amazing day and especially to have a proper send off to Bury Your Dead. Hardcore and metal has a huge place in Western and Central Mass. I’m beyond grateful and proud to have been able to be part of that.

      Now I find out Mat Bruso lives 2 doors down from my gal !!!
      Holy Shit !!!
      We’ll be in my basement listening to obscure metal in no time.

      I was there it was ok. Kinda overdrawn and vocals were very rough could tell he cant do it anymore. Looked like an old dad tryin to revisit his past time but still cool to be there. Cannibal corpse, black dahlia, varials, shadow of intent and lorna shore absolutley killed it!!!!
